Is it possible to do activities all year round?
Yes, we do activities all year round depending on the demand and the availability of the guides. Some activities are not possible at certain times of the year due to the weather conditions or specific regulations. We advise you to consult the page of the desired activity and to contact us for more information if necessary.
Are you open on Sunday?
Yes, you can do the activities every day of the week from Monday to Sunday (except regulated activities).
Do you have a base in Montpellier?
No, Escal’OSud does not have a base. The address given in Montpellier is not a meeting place.
Where do I/we meet the guide to do my/our activity?
It depends because the meeting point for each activity is different but it usually is close to where the activity takes place. Consult the information on the page of the desired activity to find out the exact meeting location which will be confirmed to you when you make your reservation.
Do you have to be athletic to do the activities?
No, there is no need to be a great athlete to be able to participate (some activities such as adventure canyons and advanced workshops require good physical condition). Consult a doctor if you have a medical condition and are not sure if you can participate.
Are there any contraindications to the practice of the activities?
Yes, you must not be the subject of a medical contraindication to the sporting practice of the chosen activity. You must not be under the influence of drugs, alcohol or other medications that may impair your ability to understand and your physical ability. In the event of a medical condition, you must inform the guide responsible for the group in advance.
What is the minimum age to do the activities?
It depends on the activities but some activities like the Canyon du Diable are accessible from 6 years old. To find out the minimum age required, see the information on the page of the activity you want to do.
I cannot accompany my child. Can he/she still participate in the activity?
Yes, we can supervise children unaccompanied by their parents from 12 years old. To do this, you must complete and give the guide a parental authorization for minors.
I'm all alone. Can I join a group?
Yes, you can join an already formed group. The guides always ensure that there is a good group dynamic.
Do I need a personal insurance?
Yes, it is strongly recommended to have a personal insurance in the event of an accident. If you are already insured (home, credit card, etc.), consult your insurance to find out if you are covered.
I have never practiced rock climbing. Is it possible to start outdoors?
Yes, absolutely and it is strongly recommended because it is a unique experience to climb in the outdoors. It’s never too late to start.
I have a feeling of vertigo. Can I participate in the activities?
It depends. Most of the participants claiming to have vertigo have an apprehension of heights or of jumping into the water. This fear is completely normal and it dissipates or passes when you build confidence with the practice of the activity. Some people have “medical vertigo” related to an inner ear disorder. In this case, you must consult a doctor to make a decision.
Do I need to know how to swim to go canyoning?
Yes, it is mandatory to know how to swim the equivalent of the length of 25 meters.
Are jumps mandatory in canyoning?
No, jumps are not mandatory and can be skipped. The guide can adapt the activity to the desires and abilities of each participant.
I wear glasses or contacts. Should I take them for canyoning?
Yes, for safety, you have to take them and wear them. We recommend that you attach a lanyard to your glasses to secure them.
How do I know where to go for each activity?
To find out the meeting location for each activity, go to the relevant activity’s page. This information will also be sent to you by email upon confirmation of your reservation.
I don't have a vehicle. Do you offer transport to the activities?
No, we do not manage or offer transportation. You must come on your own to the meeting locations. Some activities are accessible by bus from Montpellier. Ask us or contact us for more information.

We are a large group. Is there a maximum number of participants per group?
It depends on the activity but in general, the number of participants per guide is limited to 10 people. This means that for larger groups we run multiple monitors to accommodate the size of the group.
Can we do several different activities in the same day?
Yes, we can offer you an activity in the morning and a second activity in the afternoon. Some activities such as via ferrata and canyoning go well with the organization of this kind of day.
Do you do activities or tours over several days?
Yes, we offer workshops, courses and tours of several days throughout the year with varied activities and programs. Visit our website and our social networks to be kept informed of upcoming events.
We can also organize tailor-made tours and seminars according to requests and needs.
Where can I find your prices?
You can check all the prices for the activities we offer by visiting the Prices page. You can also find this link at the bottom of each page of the site in the footer.
How do I book an activity?
In most cases, the reservation is made online on our online booking platform. For groups, we systematically ask for a deposit of 30% in advance (or a bank imprint).
The reservation is validated when the deposit or the entire reservation has been paid. You will then receive a confirmation email containing all the information for your reservation.
The activity I want to do is not available for online booking. What do I do ?
In summer, we regularly update the online reservation schedule but if you can’t find the time slot or the activity you want to do, you can contact us by email or by phone at +33 7 83 82 61 22 to create a new time slot.
What payment methods are available?
For online reservations on our site, you can pay by credit card.
On location, we accept payments in cash but do NOT accept payment by credit card.
How far in advance should I book an activity?
We advise you to book as early as possible to ensure that there is a time slot and seats available, especially in summer when the demand is higher.
For a good organization, book at least 24 hours in advance so that we can manage the reservation, send you the information and obtain the sizes and weights of the participants to send them the day before the activity to the guide (canyoning).
I did not receive the confirmation email containing the reservation information.
This email may end up in the spam folder. Check it in your mailbox and if you have not received it, contact us as soon as possible by email or by phone at +33 7 83 82 61 22 so that we can send it to you again or find a solution.
The weather is not good. Can I cancel my activity?
The decision to cancel an activity because of the weather is taken by the guide. He will notify you no later than the day before to cancel the activity if the conditions do not allow the good organization of the activity or the safety of the participants to be maintained.
In which cases can an activity be cancelled?
Any activity can be canceled up to 72 hours in advance. After this time, in case of injury or physical inability to do the activity, you can cancel by presenting a medical proof. This only applies to the person concerned.
Will I be refunded in case of cancellation?
Yes, in case of cancellation up to 72 hours in advance, you are fully refunded. For any sporting contraindication (with presentation of medical proof), only the person concerned is fully reimbursed. In other cases, we keep the deposit or even the entire reservation.
How to cancel?
To cancel an activity, contact us by email or phone as soon as possible. In the case of a sporting contraindication to do the activity (injury), send us an email with a medical certificate for the person concerned.
Do you rent equipment?
No, we do not rent equipment but you can contact our colleague Ludovic from Vue d’en Haut for that.
Do you offer gift cards / gift vouchers?
Yes, we offer personalized gift cards/vouchers valid for 1 year on all our activities if you want to offer a nice gift to your loved ones.
Do you organize bachelor parties?
Yes, we regularly organize bachelor parties. The region near Montpellier and our sports activities lend themselves very well to this type of activities.
